Ramadan Day 10
Day 10 completes our first arc of Mercy, and it is the perfect closing note for these opening days. After nine days of building safety, love, tenderness, and nearness, we now turn to An-Nūr (The Light) and ask for clarity. This reflection explores a powerful therapeutic truth: clarity often follows safety, and sometimes what feels like “not knowing” is actually mercy in timing. If you have been anxious about the unknown, this post will help you trust hidden clarity and ask for the light you are ready to carry.

Alhamdulillāh — Day 10.
As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa raḥmatullāhi wa barakātuh.
Today we reflect on An-Nūr (النُّور) — The Light, The Illuminator.
Day 10 – النُّور (An-Nūr)
The Light
Qur’anic Anchor
“Allah is the Light of the heavens and the earth.”
(Qur’an 24:35)
Reflection
Allah calls Himself An-Nūr, the Light. He is Light, and from Him comes all light. An-Nūr is the Light of the heavens and the earth. His light clarifies and reveals, physically and spiritually. It makes what is hidden visible. It makes what is confusing coherent. It makes meaning appear.
Some scholars describe light as that which makes meaning visible. And Allah illuminates the hearts of the believers with knowledge, faith, and guidance. So the heart can see clearly, not only the eyes.
And psychologically, this is where the order matters. Clarity often follows safety.
We have all experienced it. When the nervous system is calm, when you feel grounded, when you feel embodied, clarity becomes more accessible. But when the body is in survival mode, the brain is scattered everywhere, and the heart feels tight, insight becomes difficult to reach.
So in sessions, when clients tell me, “Nothing feels clear,” we do not force answers. We slow down. We ground. We regulate. We breathe. Sometimes we do a short meditation. We return to the present moment. Because when the body feels safe, the mind steadies. Then the light of understanding begins to shine on what once felt dark.
And that is why I often say: after mercy, after steadiness, after safety, comes clarity.
So today we call on An-Nūr, not only for answers, but for illumination. For clarity where things feel foggy. For guidance where things feel uncertain. For meaning where things feel heavy.
I believe that An-Nūr sometimes hides things from us out of Khair (goodness). He reveals the path only as we become capable of walking it. We do not ask to see everything at once; we ask for the light to see exactly what we are ready to handle.
Only when the heart is steadied by mercy, the safety we have spent the last nine days building, does true insight become possible. I often ground my clients through meditation to help them bring themselves into the present moment. Once they feel safe in their bodies, the light of understanding naturally begins to shine upon what once felt dark.
But there is another layer that we also need to hold with humility:
There is a beautiful protection in the timing of light. What if you aren't ready for clarity yet?
What if clarity is not ready for us yet?
What if the truth is bigger than what you can handle right now?
What if we had full clarity, but we were not ready to carry it?
What if the truth we are asking for is bigger than what the heart can hold today?
There is a mercy in the timing of light. I genuinely believe Allah sometimes withholds certain clarity, not because He wants you to remain in darkness, but because He wants khayr for you. He knows that if you knew it now, you might not handle it well. But when you are ready, Allah lets it become clear. And the clarity arrives with steadiness, not shock.
So one of the most powerful du‘ās you can make is:
“Yā Nūr, illuminate what I am ready to see.”
Because sometimes seeing too soon can shake you to the core. But when Allah illumines you at the right time, the truth comes with support.
So today, call on An-Nūr, not only for answers, but for readiness for the answers.
Till tomorrow in shaa Allah.
As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa raḥmatullāhi wa barakātuh.
